The village was established in 1352 by the Grand Master, Winrich. In 1367, it had 4 włókas and 24.5 morgas of land. The sources from 1600 mentioned a Lutheran congregation. In 1719, the village had a church, which was later destroyed by a flood, and rebuilt in 1846. The sources from 1776 mentioned the surnames Epp, Becker, Baller, Doell, Eck, Elias, and van Riesen. In 1820, the village had 305 residents, including 5 Mennonites.

Village layout - a flood bank linear village located on the western side of the Nogat flood bank; in the 19th century, the village had 5 large Dutch farms grouped in the southern section of the village.

The spatial layout of the village, traditional location of homesteads, a plot with a church, and a surrounding cemetery have survived. Arcaded houses have been taken down; currently the village has only modern buildings.

The Lutheran cemetery was founded ca. 1600, that is, at the same time as the church. It is located in the village center and has a rectangular layout with the church situated in its southeastern section Fragments of vegetation surrounding the cemetery and several gravestones have survived. The examples of preserved gravestones include stalls of Anna Wienz from 1853, Jacob and Catharina Toews, as well as Gerhard and Elizabeth Dück and a cross from the Bernhard and Anna Loewen's grave from 1877.
